This is the second in a series of writing experiments that several folks from the blogging community have agreed to participate in. The goal is to promote each other, improve our writing skills and feed off of everyone’s diverse backgrounds by picking one topic and all writing about it on the same day. The last one on relating monkeys to personal finance was a big hit and super fun seeing everyone’s unique perspective on things.
I will be posting links back on this page at the end of the day so check back later and I should have a more complete listing.
Here are some Other Great Articles from the series:
From This Pint On writes about must have holiday drinks with her article The 12 Sips of Christmas. Congrats to Alison . Her article was chosen to be featured on the Freshly Pressed WordPress Blog today.
Aloysa’s Kitchen sink shares the 12 Days of Giving
Budgeting in the Fun stuff has a personal finance and blogging themed 12 Days of Christmas.
Invest it Wisely must have forgotten what song we were doing today because he just posted a personal finance parody on Walking in a Winter Wonderland. It is brilliant, so I just had to post it as well.
Every Day Tips writes about the 12 Email Spammers of Christmas. Hilarious.
My 12 days of Christmas post is featuring everyone’s favorite First Gen Character, Babci. She was never much for celebrating the holidays. This was especially true when it came to racking up the electric bill on Christmas lights and buying and receiving useless crap. Yes, she is a bit of a scrooge that way. Nevertheless we still end up having a good time. Without further adieu, here’s Babci’s version of the 12 days of Christmas:
On the first day of Christmas my Babci said to me:
- Don’t waste your money
On the second day of Christmas my Babci said to me:
- I don’t want any presents
- Don’t waste your money
On the third day of Christmas my Babci said to me:
- Shoppers are Crazy
- I don’t want any presents
- Don’t waste your money
On the fourth day of Christmas my Babci said to me:
- Look at All Those Boxes
- Shoppers are Crazy
- I don’t want any presents
- Don’t waste your money
On the fifth day of Christmas my Babci said to me:
- Lights are Expensive
- Look at All Those Boxes
- Shoppers are Crazy
- I don’t want any presents
- Don’t waste your money
On the sixth day of Christmas my Babci said to me:
- Who’s Hosting Christmas?
- Lights are Expensive
- Look at All Those Boxes
- Shoppers are Crazy
- I don’t want any presents
- Don’t waste your money
On the seventh day of Christmas my Babci said to me:
- How much was that tree?
- Who’s Hosting Christmas?
- Lights are Expensive
- Look at All Those Boxes
- Shoppers are Crazy
- I don’t want any presents
- Don’t waste your money
On the eighth day of Christmas my Babci said to me:
- Help me with Baking.
- How much was that tree?
- Who’s Hosting Christmas?
- Lights are Expensive
- Look at All Those Boxes
- Shoppers are Crazy
- I don’t want any presents
- Don’t waste your money
On the ninth day of Christmas my Babci said to me:
- When are we getting the Turkey?
- Help me with Baking.
- How much was that tree?
- Who’s Hosting Christmas?
- Lights are Expensive
- Look at All Those Boxes
- Shoppers are Crazy
- I don’t want any presents
- Don’t waste your money
On the tenth day of Christmas my Babci said to me:
- The food was delicious
- When are we getting the Turkey?
- Help me with Baking
- How much was that tree?
- Who’s Hosting Christmas?
- Lights are Expensive
- Look at All Those Boxes
- Shoppers are Crazy
- I don’t want any presents
- Don’t waste your money
On the eleventh day of Christmas my Babci said to me:
- I’m going on a diet – starting tomorrow
- The food was delicious
- When are we getting the Turkey?
- Help me with Baking.
- How much was that tree?
- Who’s Hosting Christmas?
- Lights are Expensive
- Look at All Those Boxes
- Shoppers are Crazy

- Don’t waste your money
On the twelfth day of Christmas my Babci said to me:
- I’m glad that it’s over
- I’m going on a diet – starting tomorrow
- The food was delicious
- When are we getting the Turkey?
- Help me with Baking.
- How much was that tree?
- Who’s Hosting Christmas?
- Lights are Expensive
- Look at All Those Boxes
- Shoppers are Crazy
- I don’t want any presents
- Don’t waste your money

I love it! I can’t wait to read more.
It sounds like she has her priorities straight (food). I can relate.
That’s a great rendition of 12 Days of Christmas! How Creative.
Here’s mine: http://www.investitwisely.com/walkin-in-a-winter-wonderland/
I know it’s not about the 12 days of Christmas, but this is the song that I’ve stuck in my head lately… 😉
Great one! I will have to get to work on mine and I will let you know when it is live!!!
I love Babci…
Haha! This was great. Made me laugh. I really coudl picture Babci saying all of this.
This was fun! I really enjoyed it! Let me know what else you come up with, lol. 😉
Hurray for Alison at From this Pint On who got a ton of traffic today as a result of this exercise. Her article was featured today on the Freshly Pressed Wordpress blog. It is a testament to her great writing and effort she put into today’s article.
Thanks to all who participated. In my opinion, it was another success because I enjoyed reading the articles and one of our fellow bloggers got a ton of exposure from the experiment. Woo Hoo.
I can’t wait for the next one. If you have one of your own you’d like to submit (even if you don’t have a blog), I can post it up for you.
Thank you (again) Sandy, the Fresh Pressed was such an overwhelming and exciting surprise. I certainly have you to think for the fantastic idea (and for helping me remember to push myself to blog more frequently).
Not being a finance-minded person (but still a budgeter) I loved the finance takes on the 12 days… very creative… and this is a fantastic time for financial thought …and giving!
Sandy, yours reminds me of a personalized version of that modern take on the song (where everyone has a complaint about things like tangled lights). Really well done!
I loved the last couple of days. 🙂
I remember when Xmas lights used to be such a huge pain finding out which bulb was burnt out. I think with the LED lights of today, that’s not an issue anymore, though the LEDs look weird and don’t have the same sparkle to them…
Babci sounds like a firecracker!
I bet Babci has some great holiday meals!
Nice job!
